Salone del Mobile 2019

Dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, the 58th edition of Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile has added the topic of “ingenuity” to its manifesto, meaning skills, talent being used to support people and creativity in inventing functional solutions to improve people’s well-being: all qualities that Pianca has been able to boast for generations.

Ingenuity is a precious asset that is fundamentally based on know-how, consciously seeking new challenges all the time, without ever resting on your laurels. Partnerships with talented and well-known international designers continue to represent a winning strategy for the company. The Calvi Brambilla studio is one such design partners, which is in charge of the art direction of this year’s stand, taking its inspiration from Alvar Aalto’s architecture.

The Calvi Brambilla studio has also begun designing products on behalf of Pianca once again, coming up with the elegant and cocoon-like volumes of the LAURIE armchair and the evocative panelling of the Verona door. A new addition to the Ettore table family. This year, Ettorino is making its debut – a smaller and less voluminous table, created thanks to Calvi Brambilla’s skilful and playful restyling of the proportions.

Other new products on display at the Salone include Teorema, an extendible table with a sophisticated design, thought up by Emilio Nanni to create a solid yet lightweight appearance. The same designer also created the Platea armchair, a modern take on the classic bergère, characterised by a tubular structure that provides the outline for the armchair’s volumes, finished by eclectic brass feet.

As well as the new additions to the collection, the company will also be displaying products that it presented at last year’s exhibition which have since received lots of positive feedbacks, earning themselves a place inside the Pianca family. There will also be a number of products from the collection that have enjoyed enormous success and are now being relaunched with unprecedented finishes. As always, Pianca pays a great deal of attention to customisation, ensuring that its range is able to combine quality, elegance and versatility. This research has allowed the company to expand its range of matt and glossy lacquer colours and revamp the textures and shades of its leathers and fabrics. Modular systems will also be playing a starring role on Pianca’s stand, which will once again be surprising visitors with new solutions and details.
