In the heart of Cannaregio, overlooking one of the canals of historic Venice, a 17th-century palazzo is reborn as Elizabeth Unique Venice, a hospitality destination with interiors designed by Cristina Celestino. A project that takes shape through the encounter between architectural heritage and contemporary sensibility, breathing new life into a building deeply rooted in the city’s identity.
The project preserves and enhances the palazzo’s original features, integrating them into interiors reinterpreted through contemporary colours, materials and furnishings. Lagoon greens, Venetian reds and natural tones define intimate and refined atmospheres, while Venetian terrazzo flooring, marble, marmorino finishes and textiles contribute to a rich material language deeply rooted in local tradition.

Pianca Contract worked alongside Cristina Celestino as general contractor, overseeing the various stages of the project’s execution. The work required particular attention to the building’s architectural features, translating the design vision into solutions that respect its history while meeting the requirements of its new purpose.
Furniture customisation is one of the key aspects of the project. The varying dimensions and proportions of the spaces called for a tailored approach, involving the design of bespoke elements and the adaptation of existing products.

Alongside the bespoke solutions, the project features numerous pieces from the Pianca collections, including the Costa chair by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, the Contralto coffee table by CMP Studio, the Dedalo sideboard and the Time sofa bed. Particular prominence is given to the furnishings designed by Cristina Celestino herself for Pianca: the Calatea armchair, inspired by the natural forms of the plant from which it takes its name, and the Peonia sofa and armchair, recently featured at Homo Faber 2026. The selection is completed by the Eden ottoman, also included in the project.
Some pieces from the Pianca collection have been reinterpreted to integrate harmoniously into the interiors. These adaptations reflect the ability to tailor furnishings to the specific characteristics of the architecture, while preserving the distinctive design language and identity of each piece.

Elizabeth Unique Venice thus embodies a vision of hospitality in which past and present coexist without overshadowing one another. Pianca Contract’s contribution encompasses design, coordination and execution, enhancing the distinctive character of each space and creating interiors where Venetian history continues to live on through new interpretations of contemporary living.
