Inauguration of Palazzina Scirocco Pianca

Restoration, reuse, integration: this project model was based on the interaction of architecture, design and sustainability. Pianca is proud to have made a significant contribution to this redevelopment project on San Servolo island

Pianca has been a member of the island’s San Servolo Enterprise Club since 2023 and supports the urban regeneration and redevelopment process taking place on the island, a unique location in the Venetian Lagoon. With a long history of transformations to its name, San Servolo is now a cultural centre and a green oasis with historic buildings converted for use as hospitality venues. These include Palazzina Scirocco Pianca, inaugurated on 11th October during the VID – Venice Innovation Design – Intermezzo event dedicated to sustainable design, with the added bonus in this special edition of presentations by architect Mario Cucinella and Prof. Giampaolo Nuvolati.

Aldo Pianca had the pleasure of describing and demonstrating the redevelopment work on the building, directly involving Pianca and its Contract division. After a painstaking preliminary assessment, the redevelopment work was conservative in terms of both architecture and the furnishing of the 35 rooms, with the emphasis on sustainability. Pianca had full faith in this redevelopment project right from the start and is proud to have played a key role in it, helping restore a building on the island of San Servolo which would have otherwise been left to fall into disuse.
